Nutmeg State Games Impact Campaign

Dear Nutmeg, Masters’ Games athletes, coaches, sponsors, and supporters,

I want to thank you for your support of the ShopRite Nutmeg State Games and the Connecticut Masters’ Games.  We have offered Connecticut’s largest amateur multi-sport Olympic-style sporting events for over 45 years. During that time, nearly one million participants, fans, and spectators experienced “The Games.”  This past year, we offered 38 separate events, primarily in our host city of Middletown. We also utilized facilities in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville, Rocky Hill, East Hartford, Simsbury, Newtown, North Haven, and East Lyme, CT.   Running the games takes great coordination, planning, and effort.  This past year, we employed 7 summer full-time and 30 part-time interns.  As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we rely heavily on fundraising, corporate sponsorship, grants, and event fees (which we try to keep very low) to keep the games running.  The operational cost of the games is constantly increasing with the need to rent any facility outside of Middletown, officials, official coordinators, sports medicine coverage, equipment purchases, event insurance, national fees, office and staffing fees, transportation rentals, etc… I am very proud of the work of our all our interns and my full-time staff of two.

I am excited about 2025. We already have our events scheduled and have even opened up some sports registrations. We will open all of our event registrations by mid-January. I hope you will consider donating to help support the Nutmeg, Masters’, Northeast Football Showcase, and Pickleball Series events. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donation is 100 percent tax deductible and greatly appreciated.  Please Click Here to donate to our Nutmeg State Games Impact Campaign.

Happy Holidays, and see you in 2025!

Thank you,

Edward Matz

Executive Director
